Test your Audience

After you have set up your Audience you need to test it. This is important for two reasons;

  1. You only want to collect data from visitors that your experiment is meant for.
  2. You only want your changes to happen on the specific page(s) it is meant for.

To test your Audience settings open up a Preview of your project.

Click either on the preview button to preview the current variation or click the variation selection button and then hover over the variation you want to preview and click Preview.

Now you will get a Preview of your experiment in a new tab. The important thing here is to check that your Audience is TRUE where you want your experiment to run, and FALSE on all other pages of the site.

Example

In the example below, we have set an Audience that only should target Product detail pages (PDP) in our webshop.

We first check that the URL Contains siteshopping.se (to only target the Swedish market) and then we also check that the visitor is currently on a Product Detail Page (PDP) by using a Page Content statement.

The Audience evaluates FALSE because the second statement is FALSE, the visitor is currently not on a Product Detail Page. This is because we are viewing a Product Listing Page (PLP) and not a Product Detail Page (PDP).

In the image above Audience sums up to TRUE because we are on a Product Detail Page (PDP).

NOTICE: Always remember to check that your Audience is TRUE where you want your experiment to run, and FALSE on all other pages of the site.
